Health Professions Recruitment (HPREP)

The Health Professions Recruitment and Exposure Program   (HPREP) is a program initiated to address the national problem of underrepresented minorities in the health care professions. Each session enlists the help of a physician who speaks about issues at the forefront of medicine, especially those concerning health in minority communities. Such experiences serve to educate the  students about issues impacting them, as well as introduce them professionals that can serve as role models and mentors.

Goals

Increase the awareness of opportunities in health professions • Facilitate minority students’ interaction with medical students and faculty

Strengthen high school student’s motivation in pursuing a career in the sciences Increase the number of minorities entering health professions, allied health fields, and graduate science.

Target Group(s)

· African American, Hispanic American, and Native American students
